BCEHL - 2023 WHL DRAFT RECAP

Saanichton, B.C. - The BCEHL saw five players selected in the 2023 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft on Thursday, which included four members of the Okanagan Rockets who heard their names called.
 
Hudson Getzlaf (108th overall, U15 AAA Okanagan Rockets)
Hudson Getzlaf became the first BCEHL player selected in the 2023 WHL Draft when the Vancouver Giants took Getzlaf with the 108th overall pick. The Okanagan Rockets forward finished fourth in league scoring during the 2022-23 regular season with 39 points (18g-21a) in 28 games played. In the playoffs, the Kelowna MHA product added five points (2g-3a) in seven games played, as his Rockets won the silver medal at the U15 Championship.
Kaden Meyer (124th overall, U15 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians)
Kaden Meyer was the first BCEHL defender off the board when the Kamloops Blazers selected Meyer 124th overall. The Greater Vancouver defender led all U15 blueliners in scoring with 24 points (8g-16a) in 25 games. Meyer also chipped in with six points (2g-4a) in seven playoff games as his Canadians were BCEHL U15 Champions.
Logan Jugnauth (125th overall, U15 AAA Okanagan Rockets)
Logan Jugnauth was the third BCEHL skater off the board in the 2023 WHL Draft when the Prince George Cougars drafted the Okanagan Rockets defender with the 125th overall selection. Jugnauth was a part of a Okanagan defense that allowed a league-low 55 goals in 30 regular season games. Offensively, Jugnauth scored one goal and added 11 assists in 30 games played.
Kylen Martens (189th overall, U15 AAA Okanagan Rockets)
Kylen Martens was the third Okanagan Rockets player selected in the 2023 WHL Draft when the Tri-City Americans chose the defender in the ninth round. The Summerland MHA product led all Okanagan blueliners in scoring with 22 points (8g-14a) in 30 games. Martens chipped in with another two goals and two assists across seven playoff games.
Hayden Laing (191st overall, U15 AAA Okanagan Rockets)
The run on Okanagan Rockets skaters continued as the Tri-City Americans selected Hayden Laing with the 191st pick. During the regular season, Laing picked up 24 points (8g-16a) in 28 regular season games. The Kelowna MHA product picked up another five points (3g-2a) in seven games during the U15 Championship.
