BCEHL ANNOUNCES HUMANTIARIAN AWARD WINNERS

Rebecca Noble of the Fraser Valley Rush was the Female U18 AAA recipient of the Humanitarian Award for the second half of the 2023-24 season.

Noble has been an active participant in her hockey community. The Rush netminder helped with goaltender training sessions with Coquitlam MHA and her former minor hockey association, the Richmond Ravens. She mentored young goaltenders and got them excited to play the position.

Away from the rink, Noble was the head facilitator for Here-4-Peers, a youth mental health program that helps Grade 7 students with their transition into high school, and teaches them about the stigma surrounding mental health.

Noble had a fantastic season in between the pipes for the Rush. The Richmond Ravens product had 13 victories during the regular season and helped her Fraser Valley squad finish at the top of the Female U18 standings with a record of 23-7-1-1.

The U18 AAA Humanitarian Award for the second half of the 2023-24 season went to Maxfeld Shin of the Greater Vancouver Canadians.

Shin was a committed member of his community. On Wednesdays, Shin, along with his mom, volunteered their time at a local soup kitchen where they helped prepare meals for the community. The Canadians' forward enjoyed interacting with members of the community, chatting with familiar faces and introducing himself to the new ones that are dining.

Shin skated in 34 games for the Canadians during the 2023-24 season, and finished sixth in team scoring with 22 points (11g-11a). The Richmond Jets MHA alum also put up one goal over two playoff games.

For the second half of the 2023-24 season, the U17 AAA League's Humanitarian Award went to Khayam Siah of the Vancouver Island Royals.

This season, Siah dedicated over 50 hours coaching at the U15 level with Campbell River MHA. He's helped develop the on-ice skills of local players to help them progress to higher levels of hockey.

The forward gave back to his community off-the ice by scorekeeping at local high school basketball games, and assisted middle school students with their understanding of the sport. Siah also helped organize tournaments and activities such as the Canadian Tire First Shift Program.

Along with his commitment to hockey and community, excellence in the classroom was important to Siah as he maintained a high academic average at school.

The Campbell River product suited up in 32 games with the Royals during the 2023-24 season, and picked up 17 points (9g-8a). He also affiliated in four contests with the U18 Royals squad, and picked up three points (1g-2a).

Greater Vancouver Canadians forward Luke Wilson earned the U15 AAA Humanitarian Award for the second half of the 2023-24 season.

Wilson was a constant with South Delta Minor Hockey Association, as he volunteered his time as an on-ice helper with a U13 team, and a youth mentor with U7 and U9 programs with his local association. Aside from playing, the Canadians' forward also suited up as an official.

Away from the rink, Wilson was very involved in his community. Known for his positive attitude and team spirit, he served as a youth leader at his home church. The 15-year-old has volunteered for five years with the elementary age group, and has moved on to the pre-teen program, where he enjoys building strong connections with the youth.

Even with a busy schedule, Wilson achieved academic success, and applied the same determination and work ethic that he does to hockey. Last year, he was the recipient of the Steadfast Award as his school, which recognized his commitment to athletics, academics, and community involvement.

Wilson skated in all 30 games with the Canadians this season and finished with 18 points (10g-8a), which ranked fifth among all Greater Vancouver skaters.
