March 11, 2026
Saanichton, B.C. - The BCEHL playoffs are officially in overdrive! The U17 league is set for their championship weekend, while Female U18 and and the U18 leagues move into their semifinal round! Let’s see what is in store for us!
Female U18 AAA
The Female U18 league playoffs kicked off last weekend when the fourth-seeded Northern Capitals slipped by the fifth-seeded Vancouver Island Seals, taking the best-of-three play-in series two games to one. The Seals shocked the Capitals in Game 1 when they earned a 5-4 overtime win. The Capitals would bounce back with a big 5-1 victory on Saturday that set up the third and deciding game on Sunday. The teams would battle through the first 40 minutes without either team being able to light the lamp, but in the third period the Capitals’ Paxton Fraser broke through, notching two goals leading the Capitals to a 2-1 win in Game 3 as well as a 2-1 series victory. The Capitals have now earned a semifinal matchup with the top ranked Greater Vancouver Comets.
The marquee matchup this weekend will see the second-seeded Fraser Valley Rush welcome the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers to Langley for their best-of-three semifinal series. The Rush and Lakers ended their season tied in points with 41, but the Rush earned the higher seed by winning the season series against the Lakers with a 5-3-0-0 record. The series features the top three scorers as well as the top point getter from the blueline during the regular season. The Lakers boast the league’s top scorer in Kiran Keller (20g+23a=43 points in 32 games) as well as Jesse Umeris (11g+23a=34 points in 32 games) who finished third in league scoring. The Rush counter with the second overall scorer in points in Kaylyn Halwas (18g+19a=37 points in 32 games) and defensive standout Madelyn Dominato who tallied six goals and 23 assists for 29 points in 32 games played, which was top amongst all blueliners and tied for sixth in overall league scoring. Both teams will be looking for big weekends from their netminders where they have received solid play all season. The Rush have relied on the duo of Keira Pong (1.83 GAA in 22 GP) and Brooklyn Fernie (2.16 GAA in 10 GP). The Lakers will look to the combo of Madison Guido (1.78 GAA in 14 GP) and Courtnay Cooke (2.29 GAA in 18 GP).
This series is a best-of-three with games going Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (if necessary).

U18 AAA
Semifinal weekend has arrived in the U18 league! The first round played out as one would expect with all the top seeds advancing. Both the second-seeded Okanagan Rockets and the third-seeded Cariboo Cougars swept their first round series, while the fourth-seeded Thompson Blazers needed a third game to punch their ticket to the semifinal round. The top-seeded Vancouver North East Chiefs round out the field as they will start their post-season in the semifinals after receiving a first round bye.
The spotlighted semifinal sees the Blazers heading to Burnaby to take on the Chiefs. These two teams split the season series this year with both squads earning identical 3-3-0-0 records in the six-game series. Goals were in abundance during the season series as Thompson notched 27 markers and Vancouver North East tallied 26. Offense has been the name of the game for the Chiefs this season as they counted four of the league's top seven scorers, including the league leader in Kaeden Kalkat who notched 22 goals while counting 40 assists in 34 games. The Blazers have scored by committee this season with forward Linden Delleman having led the way for the Blazers and finished eighth in league scoring (21g-21a=42 points in 33 games), while blueliner Carter Bylycia led all defenders in the U17 league this season with 37 points (7g-30a) in 30 games. Blake Mumford got the nod in all three games in the first round for the Blazers, and is likely to get the net for Game 1. The Chiefs come into the series with the tandem of Maverick Bell (2.75 GAA in 21 GP and a league leading 16 wins) and Sante Bove (3.75 GAA in 13 GP).
All series are a best-of-three with games going Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (if necessary).
