BCEHL PLAYOFF UPDATE - MARCH 31

Saanichton, B.C. - The final weekend of the BCEHL playoffs concluded as the Fraser Valley Rush claimed the Female U18 Championship, and the Okanagan Rockets captured the U18 Championship! Both teams will turn their attention to the Pacific Regionals, as their quest towards their respective national championship continues.

 

 

Female U18 AAA

Congratulations to the Fraser Valley Rush, who were crowned BCEHL Female U18 Champions last weekend!

The best-of-three Female U18 Championship took place last weekend between the top-seeded Fraser Valley Rush and the second-seeded Thompson-Okanagan Lakers at Langley Twin Rinks. A hat-trick from Aynsley D’Ottavio and a four-point effort (1g-3a) from Vienna Rubin helped the Rush to a 5-1 victory in Game One. In Game Two, multi-point performances from Rubin (2g-0a), Leah Barnard (1g-1a), Solana Cooper (0g-2a), D’Ottavio (0g-2a) and Anna McKee (0g-2a), along with a 21-save shutout from Clara Juca, propelled Fraser Valley to a 5-0 victory in Game Two, earning the team the Female U18 Championship.

Good luck to the Rush as they travel to Red Deer next weekend for the Pacific Regional Championship against the Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs! Stay tuned to our social media channels for updates!

March 24-26 (Championship – Best-of-Three)

  • The Fraser Valley Rush defeated the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers with a 2-0 series win

 

 

U18 AAA

Congratulations to the Okanagan Rockets, who took home the BCEHL U18 Championship last weekend!

 

The second-seeded Okanagan Rockets and the top-seeded Greater Vancouver Canadians took the ice in a best-of-three series in Delta and Richmond to determine the U18 champions. Game One saw the Rockets claim a 5-0 victory, helped by a two-goal game from Malachi Freh, to go along with a 29-save shutout from Colton Jugnauth. In Game Two, Rockets’ forward Erik Pastro tallied three points (1g-2a), while Jugnauth made 31 stops in a 6-2 win, capturing the U18 Championship in the process.

 

Best of luck to the Rockets when they travel to Calgary and take on the Calgary Northwest Flames in the Pacific Regional Championship next weekend! Keep an eye out for updates on social media!

U17 AAA

Congratulations to the Okanagan Rockets, who captured the BCEHL U17 Championship!

 

The U17 Championship Final took place from March 17-19 as the top-seeded Fraser Valley Thunderbirds and the second-seeded Okanagan Rockets took to the ice in Abbotsford. After dropping Game One of the best-of-three series 4-1, the Rockets clawed their way back with wins in Game Two and Game Three by a score of 5-3 and 4-2. Rockets’ defender Kaden Woodcox had a stellar performance during the series, as he put up five points (2g-3a) which included a pair of goals in Sunday’s series deciding game. Goaltender Ethan Sawyer started in goal for Okanagan across all three games of the series and backstopped the team to victories in Game Two and Game Three.

U15 AAA

Congratulations to the Greater Vancouver Canadians on capturing the BCEHL U15 Championship!

The U15 Championship took place at Langley Twin Rinks from March 8-12. Teams skated in four round-robin games, followed by a single-elimination knockout stage, where all teams were seeded based on the results of the round-robin stage. Sunday’s championship game saw the Greater Vancouver Canadians take on the Okanagan Rockets, where multi-point games from John Bethell and Luca Martyniuk, along with a stellar performance in goal from Liam Leslie, guided the Canadians to a 4-2 victory and the U15 Championship.

Over the course of the weekend, Rockets’ forward Raine Lepin led the tournament in scoring with 12 points (8g-4a), while Greater Vancouver’s Alan Peregrym led the way in net with four victories.

Each team played against the three other teams in their group, with all teams advancing to the quarterfinals and seeded based on round-robin results.
