Saanichton, B.C. – The British Columbia Elite Hockey League (BCEHL) kicks off their inaugural season this weekend with the Female U18, U18 and U15 age groups all in action across the province.

A total of 20 teams will see action across the three leagues. The U17 league, and its 10 teams, will start their schedule the following weekend, Oct. 2, 2021. The teams primarily will play back-to-back games against their opponents each weekend.

The opening game for the entire BCEHL will take place at the U15 level when the Vancouver NW Hawks travel to Kamloops to take on the Thompson Blazers on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. The other BCEHL U15 matchups this week are the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds heading to Kelowna to battle the Okanagan Rockets, the Cariboo Cougars travel down south for a matchup with the Vancouver NE Chiefs and the Valley West Giants are headed over the water to open their season against the South Island Royals.

The Female U18 league has an exciting matchup to start things off as the Greater Vancouver Comets travel up north to battle the Northern Capitals in Prince George. Puck drop will be Saturday at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Sunday morning special at 10:45 a.m.

The U18 league gets underway with the Valley West Giants playing host to the Thompson Blazers in on Saturday at 1:15 p.m. PST, before locking horns again the following day at 2:30 p.m. PST. Another intriguing series sees the Cariboo Cougars making the trip to Nanaimo to battle the North Island Silvertips. The other opening weekend matchups are the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds taking on the Okanagan Rockets in Kelowna, the Vancouver NE Chiefs tangle with the South Island Royals and a rivalry match-up in North Vancouver as the Vancouver NW Hawks play host to the Greater Vancouver Canadians.
