Saanichton, B.C. - With the standings neck-and-neck and a big matchup near the top, the Female U18 league creates some extra buzz across the BCEHL this week heading into the holiday season. Let's take a closer look at what's ahead.

Female U18 AAA

The Female U18 league is back with tons at stake at the top of the standings. Taking centre stage, the Fraser Valley Rush (11-6-0), tied for first in points, will aim to extend their lead against the third-place Thompson-Okanagan Lakers (10-6-1), who trail them by a single point. Meanwhile, the first-place Greater Vancouver Comets (11-4-0) will look to stay in the lead when they host the fourth-place Northern Capitals (8-9-1).

U18 AAA

All teams in the U18 league will hit the ice this weekend. It will be a busy stretch for the fifth-place Vancouver North West Hawks (7-10-2), starting with a Friday showdown against the sixth-place Valley West Giants (5-9-2), before returning home for a two-game set against the third-place Cariboo Cougars (9-6-3). Elsewhere, the second-place Okanagan Rockets (14-2-0) will have a chance to move into first as they travel to face the seventh-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (5-10-3).

U17 AAA

With just a five point separation between first and fourth, the U17 league continues to be anyone's game. The league-leading Thompson Blazers (14-7-3) will look to gain some extra breathing room when they face off against the fourth-place Okanagan Rockets (12-6-2) in a home-and-home series. Meanwhile, the fifth-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (11-7-2) will need to be up for the challenge to move into the top four as they take on the third-place Vancouver North West Hawks (13-6-3), who are only two points back of the first-place Blazers.

U15 AAA

After their bye-week, the U15 league returns in full swing. The third-place Vancouver North East Chiefs (9-3-2) will have a tall task bridging the gap between themselves and the top two teams, as they take on the first-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (14-2-0). Just two points back of the Thunderbirds, the second-place Okanagan Rockets (13-1-0) are hoping they can snag the top spot by the end of the weekend as they get set to host the eighth-place Greater Vancouver Canadians (0-14-1) for a two game series.
