BCEHL WEEKEND UPDATE - DECEMBER 5-7

For Immediate Release
December 3, 2025
Saanichton, B.C. - The BCEHL kicks off December with the U18 and U17 leagues taking centre stage. With so little separating multiple teams in both leagues, every point will be crucial this weekend. Let's take a closer look at what's ahead.
Female U18 AAA
The Female U18 league is on a bye-week and will be back in action on December 13. During the break, four of the league's teams will be playing in the following tournaments:
Fraser Valley Rush and Greater Vancouver Comets - USA Canada Cup, Kitchener, ON
Thompson-Okanagan Lakers and Vancouver Island Seals - 2 Nations College Prep Series, Brampton, ON
U18 AAA
There isn't much breathing room at the top of the U18 league standings. Riding a three-game winning streak, the league-leading Vancouver North East Chiefs (12-3-1) will try to keep things rolling in a home-and-home series against the sixth-place Vancouver North West Hawks (7-8-2). Just one point back of the Chiefs, the second-place Okanagan Rockets (12-2-0) get set to host the fourth-place Thompson Blazers (8-7-0), who themselves sit only a point behind third.
Saturday’s U18 Games:
Vancouver North East Chiefs @ Vancouver North West Hawks - 3:00 p.m. - Canlan Ice Sports North Shore
Cariboo Cougars @ Fraser Valley Thunderbirds - 3:30 p.m. - Mission Leisure Centre

With just four points between first and fourth place, the U17 league standings could look very different by Sunday night. The first-place Thompson Blazers (13-7-2) aim to keep their lead when they clash with the fifth-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (10-7-1). Meanwhile, tied for second in the standings, the Vancouver North West Hawks (11-5-3) kick off a big three-game weekend, starting on the road Friday against the sixth-place Vancouver North East Chiefs (9-7-1), before returning home for a two-game set with the ninth-place Vancouver Island Royals (5-15-0).
