BCEHL WEEKEND UPDATE - JANUARY 23-25

Saanichton, B.C. - The BCEHL is back in action with key contests across all four leagues. The U18 league takes centre stage as its front-runners get set to face off, while the top of the U17 league remains wide open. Let's take a look at what's ahead.

 

Female U18 AAA

In this weekend's Female U18 action, the second-place Thompson-Okanagan Lakers (15-8-1) will get set to host the fourth-place Northern Capitals (8-14-2) for a two-game set. Meanwhile, the league leading Greater Vancouver Comets (17-4-0) will look to extend their three point lead at the top of the standings as they face the fifth-place Vancouver Island Seals (2-19-0) for three games.

Saturday's Female U18 Games:

Northern Capitals @ Thompson-Okanagan Lakers - 2:45 p.m. - Priest Valley Arena

U18 AAA

It's a big week in the U18 league, with several key matchups featuring teams in the top half of the standings. The spotlight shines on a showdown between the second-place Vancouver North East Chiefs (16-4-1) and the league-leading Okanagan Rockets (19-4-1), as the Rockets look to extend their six point lead at the top. Elsewhere, the third-place Cariboo Cougars (15-8-3), will aim to move inside the top two as they hit the road to take on the fourth-place Thompson Blazers (13-12-1).

U17 AAA

The top half of the U17 league continues to be anyone's game, as just four points separates the top three teams. The league-leading Cariboo Cougars (20-8-1) will need to be at their best to keep their spot in the standings as they take on the sixth-place Valley West Giants (12-10-3). Just two points back of first, the second-place Vancouver North West Hawks (18-6-3) have their sights on reclaiming top spot as they welcome the fifth-place Thompson Blazers (14-10-4).

U15 AAA

All teams in the U15 league will get set to hit the ice this weekend, as the battle at the top of the standings shows no sign of slowing down. With just a four point lead at the top of the standings, the league-leading Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (20-2-0) will look to extend their lead when they take on the fifth-place Cariboo Cougars (12-10-0), who are only three points back of third. Just four points back of the Thunderbirds, the second-place Okanagan Rockets (18-2-0) will look to keep the pressure on at the top of the standings as they host the seventh-place Valley West Giants (6-16-0).
