BCEHL WEEKEND UPDATE - NOVEMBER 22-23

Saanichton, B.C. - This week's BCEHL Weekend Update is as literal as it gets, as every contest occurs this Saturday and Sunday. The focus shifts to the U18 league as its two top teams in the standings face off in a marquee matchup, while the U17 league remains anyone's game. Let's take a closer look at what's ahead.

Female U18 AAA

There are two matchups this weekend in the Female U18 league. The second-place Thompson-Okanagan Lakers (9-5-1) look to take top spot when they take on the fifth-place Vancouver Island Seals (1-12-0) in a two-game series. Meanwhile, the third-place Greater Vancouver Comets (9-4-0) will hit the ice against the fourth-place Northern Capitals (6-7-1), as they meet for the second time this season.

Saturday’s Female U18 Games:

Vancouver Island Seals @ Thompson-Okanagan Lakers - 2:00 p.m. - Kal Tire Place

Northern Capitals @ Greater Vancouver Comets - 8:15 p.m. - Planet Ice Coquitlam

Sunday’s Female U18 Games:

Northern Capitals @ Greater Vancouver Comets - 8:30 a.m. - Richmond Olympic Oval

Vancouver Island Seals @ Thompson-Okanagan Lakers - 12:15 p.m. - Kal Tire Place

U18 AAA

The spotlight shines bright on the U18 league, with a big matchup stealing the show this weekend. The second-place Vancouver North East Chiefs (9-3-1) will look to narrow the gap between themselves and the first-place Okanagan Rockets (12-0-0), who remain undefeated. Elsewhere, the fourth-place Cariboo Cougars (5-5-2) will take on the seventh-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (4-6-2) in their first meeting of the season.

U17 AAA

With just three points separating the third and eighth place teams, the battle in the U17 standings continues to heat up. The sixth-place Valley West Giants (7-6-2) will have a tall task climbing the standings when they hit the ice against the second-place Thompson Blazers (11-5-2), who themselves are one point back of first. Meanwhile, the fourth-place Vancouver North West Hawks (8-5-3) will look to fend off the seventh-place Vancouver North East Chiefs (7-6-1), just four points behind.

The U15 league is back in action featuring its top teams in the standings. The one-loss Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (12-1-0), look to continue their hot start when they host the sixth-place Valley West Giants (3-9-0). Yet to be defeated, the Okanagan Rockets (10-0-0) will aim to hold off the fourth-place Thompson Blazers (8-5-1) in a home-and-home series.
