BCEHL WEEKEND UPDATE - SEPTEMBER 22-24

Saanichton, B.C. - A busy weekend is in store across the BCEHL that includes the U15 showcase beginning Friday in Langley. Let's take a look at what else is going on around the BCEHL!

 

Female U18 AAA

Female U18 AAA Featured Series: The Thompson Okanagan-Lakers and Greater Vancouver Comets will open their regular season campaigns with a pair of games in Vernon. The Lakers and Comets met eight times during the 2022-23 season, with Thompson-Okanagan taking the win in seven contests. Lakers' goaltender Reese Sliskovic will look continue her success against the Comets after she conceded just one goal across two starts last season. Comets' forward Rowan Brooke Hu had success against Thompson-Okanagan last season, as she tallied seven points (5g-2a) in eight games.

U18 AAA

U18 AAA Featured Series: The Vancouver NE Chiefs welcome the Okanagan Rockets to Scotia Barn for a pair of contests this weekend. The two teams last met in the semi- finals of the 2023 BCEHL playoffs, where the Rockets secured a 2-0 series win en route to hoisting the BCEHL U18 Championship. Players to watch include Rockets' forward Mason Rudolph, who recorded four points (1g-3a) and Chiefs' forward James Eagle, who had (1g-4a) in last year's semi-final.

U17 AAA

U17 AAA Featured Series: After last year's tightly contested season series which saw both teams claim two victories across four games, the Vancouver NW Hawks and Greater Vancouver Canadians renew acquaintances to open up the 2023-24 campaign. Kendric Liu and Josh Mantle return to the Canadians' lineup, while the Hawks have four returning players in Geordie Connon, Eli Davies, Jamie Frizzell and Jaden Kwan.

U15 AAA Featured Matchup: In a matchup of the two most experienced teams in the U15 AAA league, the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds and the Cariboo Cougars kick-off the U15 showcase on Friday. Each with five returning players on their rosters, the Cougars will welcome back Connor Feeney, Sawyer Latowski, Ty Maloney, Vincent Vassallo and Taryn Willis, while Riley Charlton, Kieran Dartnell, Daniel Ewert, Koltin Herfst and Andy Kim provide experience for the Thunderbirds as they return for a second season.
